Domestic Helper (3 Days a Week)

A family in Montague Gardens wants someone they can trust with their large estate home and their children. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

The work is in Montague Gardens, Western Cape, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

• Get children ready for school and supervise homework in the afternoon
• Clean bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen and living areas on a weekly rotation
• Clean windows and patio doors once a week
• Help an elderly person with meals, medication reminders and light walking
• Wash, hang, iron and fold the household's laundry
• Keep a list of cleaning supplies running low for the employer

• Trustworthy, with references from previous employers you can share
• Good with children and patient
• South African ID or valid work permit
• Able to handle a full-day physical routine

• Own room with bathroom for live-in posts
• Written contract with fixed hours and duties
• Transport money for live-out staff
• Paid annual leave and public holidays as the law requires

• Families hire on trust, so make references your strongest part. Write the employer's name, suburb, years worked and phone number for each one.
• Say plainly what you can and cannot do: cooking, ironing, childcare, driving. It avoids arguments later and families like honesty.
