Domestic Helper (3 Days a Week)

Steady household work in a guesthouse with family quarters in Secunda, with clear days and hours agreed upfront. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

This post is in Secunda (Mpumalanga). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Dust furniture, ornaments and skirting boards
• Change bed linen and make beds
• Help an elderly person with meals, medication reminders and light walking
• Get children ready for school and supervise homework in the afternoon
• Wash, hang, iron and fold the household's laundry
• Clean windows and patio doors once a week
• Wash dishes and keep the kitchen tidy after meals

• Good with children and patient
• Willing to follow the family's house rules and routines
• Neat, organised and able to work without being supervised
• Able to handle a full-day physical routine
• Able to speak and understand basic English
• South African ID or valid work permit

• A driver's licence for school lifts
• Non-smoker
• Basic first aid or child CPR course

• Paid annual leave and public holidays as the law requires
• Registered for UIF and COIDA by the employer
• Written contract with fixed hours and duties

• Say plainly what you can and cannot do: cooking, ironing, childcare, driving. It avoids arguments later and families like honesty.
• Families hire on trust, so make references your strongest part. Write the employer's name, suburb, years worked and phone number for each one.
