Domestic Helper (3 Days a Week)

You'll keep a townhouse in a security complex in Soweto clean, calm and running smoothly for the family. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

You'll be based at a townhouse in a security complex in Soweto. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Help an elderly person with meals, medication reminders and light walking
• Wash dishes and keep the kitchen tidy after meals
• Change bed linen and make beds
• Clean windows and patio doors once a week
• Wash, hang, iron and fold the household's laundry
• Prepare simple meals or school lunches when asked

• Good with children and patient
• Willing to follow the family's house rules and routines
• Neat, organised and able to work without being supervised
• Trustworthy, with references from previous employers you can share
• Able to speak and understand basic English

• Own room with bathroom for live-in posts
• Registered for UIF and COIDA by the employer
• Transport money for live-out staff

• Families hire on trust, so make references your strongest part. Write the employer's name, suburb, years worked and phone number for each one.
• Say plainly what you can and cannot do: cooking, ironing, childcare, driving. It avoids arguments later and families like honesty.
