Domestic Worker (Live-Out, Weekdays) – Fixed-Term

Steady household work in a retired couple's cottage in Newcastle, with clear days and hours agreed upfront. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

You'll be based at a retired couple's cottage in Newcastle. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Clean bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen and living areas on a weekly rotation
• Get children ready for school and supervise homework in the afternoon
• Dust furniture, ornaments and skirting boards
• Help an elderly person with meals, medication reminders and light walking
• Wash dishes and keep the kitchen tidy after meals
• Wash, hang, iron and fold the household's laundry

• Good with children and patient
• Willing to follow the family's house rules and routines
• Able to handle a full-day physical routine
• South African ID or valid work permit
• Trustworthy, with references from previous employers you can share

• Experience caring for an older person
• Basic first aid or child CPR course
• Cooking experience with family meals

• Registered for UIF and COIDA by the employer
• Written contract with fixed hours and duties
• Own room with bathroom for live-in posts

• Ask for a written contract and to be registered for UIF. Good employers expect the question and it protects you.
• Families hire on trust, so make references your strongest part. Write the employer's name, suburb, years worked and phone number for each one.
