Job Description

Big machines, long shifts, good pay: the open-cast coal mine near Secunda needs qualified operators. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

You'll report in Secunda. Relocation is not covered for this one.

The work, day to day

Push and level material on dumps and stockpiles with the dozer
Haul ore and waste on the haul road loop to the crusher or dump
Complete the pre-use inspection checklist for your trackless mobile machine
Drill blast holes to the plan depth and angle marked by the survey team
Report defects and lock out the machine for the maintenance crew

You'll need

At least 2 years operating the machine in a mining environment
Clear understanding of the TMM regulations under Chapter 8 of the MHSA regulations
Grade 10 at minimum, with Grade 12 strongly preferred
Certificate of fitness from a mine medical practitioner
Code 10 or Code 14 driver's licence

Nice if you have

Experience with ultra-class haul trucks
Machine training instructor experience
