Drill Rig Operator (Surface Blast Holes)

Big machines, long shifts, good pay: the open-pit manganese mine near Kimberley needs qualified operators. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.

Home base is an open-pit manganese mine on the Kimberley side of Northern Cape. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Keep radio contact with the dispatch controller and follow the right-of-way rules
• Drill blast holes to the plan depth and angle marked by the survey team
• Push and level material on dumps and stockpiles with the dozer
• Report defects and lock out the machine for the maintenance crew
• Refuel and wash the machine at the end of your shift where required

• Certificate of fitness from a mine medical practitioner
• Able to work 12-hour shifts on a rotating day and night roster
• Code 10 or Code 14 driver's licence
• At least 2 years operating the machine in a mining environment

• Experience with ultra-class haul trucks
• Machine training instructor experience
