Drill Rig Operator (Surface Blast Holes) – Immediate Start

Big machines, long shifts, good pay: the underground platinum mine using trackless mobile machinery near Pietermaritzburg needs qualified operators. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.

The work is in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Keep radio contact with the dispatch controller and follow the right-of-way rules
• Push and level material on dumps and stockpiles with the dozer
• Refuel and wash the machine at the end of your shift where required
• Load, haul and tip with the LHD from draw points to the ore pass
• Log loads, cycle times and machine hours on the onboard system or sheet

• Grade 10 at minimum, with Grade 12 strongly preferred
• Certificate of fitness from a mine medical practitioner
• At least 2 years operating the machine in a mining environment
• Able to work 12-hour shifts on a rotating day and night roster
• Code 10 or Code 14 driver's licence
• Clear understanding of the TMM regulations under Chapter 8 of the MHSA regulations

• Fatigue management or defensive driving training
• Certificates on two or more machine types
• Experience with ultra-class haul trucks

• If you live near the mine, say so. Local applicants are often preferred under the Social and Labour Plan.
