Drill Rig Operator (Surface Blast Holes)

Operators at this underground platinum mine using trackless mobile machinery near Rosslyn keep the ore moving from face to crusher. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

This post is Rosslyn-based, with most of your time spent at an underground platinum mine using trackless mobile machinery.

• Log loads, cycle times and machine hours on the onboard system or sheet
• Report defects and lock out the machine for the maintenance crew
• Keep radio contact with the dispatch controller and follow the right-of-way rules
• Refuel and wash the machine at the end of your shift where required
• Respect the collision avoidance system warnings and park-up rules
• Complete the pre-use inspection checklist for your trackless mobile machine
• Haul ore and waste on the haul road loop to the crusher or dump

• Able to work 12-hour shifts on a rotating day and night roster
• Valid operator certificate for the specific machine, from an MQA-accredited provider
• Code 10 or Code 14 driver's licence
• At least 2 years operating the machine in a mining environment
• Clear understanding of the TMM regulations under Chapter 8 of the MHSA regulations
• Certificate of fitness from a mine medical practitioner

• Shift allowance for night and weekend shifts
• Company bus from nearby towns to the mine gate
• Annual performance bonus
• Medical aid subsidy

• Put your operator certificate expiry dates on the CV. Expired tickets are the top reason operators get filtered out.
• Name the exact machine class and size you operated, like "100-ton rigid dump truck". Mines hire by machine.
