Dump Truck Operator (Open Pit) – Permanent

You'll operate heavy mining machines on shift at the open-pit manganese mine near Kathu. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

Home base is an open-pit manganese mine on the Kathu side of Northern Cape. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Load, haul and tip with the LHD from draw points to the ore pass
• Haul ore and waste on the haul road loop to the crusher or dump
• Drill blast holes to the plan depth and angle marked by the survey team
• Push and level material on dumps and stockpiles with the dozer
• Refuel and wash the machine at the end of your shift where required
• Report defects and lock out the machine for the maintenance crew

• Valid operator certificate for the specific machine, from an MQA-accredited provider
• At least 2 years operating the machine in a mining environment
• Clear understanding of the TMM regulations under Chapter 8 of the MHSA regulations
• Code 10 or Code 14 driver's licence
• Certificate of fitness from a mine medical practitioner

• Fatigue management or defensive driving training
• Experience with ultra-class haul trucks
• Certificates on two or more machine types

• Put your operator certificate expiry dates on the CV. Expired tickets are the top reason operators get filtered out.
• If you live near the mine, say so. Local applicants are often preferred under the Social and Labour Plan.
