Dump Truck Operator (Open Pit)

You'll operate heavy mining machines on shift at the underground platinum mine using trackless mobile machinery near Secunda. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.

This post is Secunda-based, with most of your time spent at an underground platinum mine using trackless mobile machinery. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Drill blast holes to the plan depth and angle marked by the survey team
• Haul ore and waste on the haul road loop to the crusher or dump
• Report defects and lock out the machine for the maintenance crew
• Log loads, cycle times and machine hours on the onboard system or sheet
• Keep radio contact with the dispatch controller and follow the right-of-way rules
• Refuel and wash the machine at the end of your shift where required

• Code 10 or Code 14 driver's licence
• Able to work 12-hour shifts on a rotating day and night roster
• At least 2 years operating the machine in a mining environment
• Clear understanding of the TMM regulations under Chapter 8 of the MHSA regulations
• Valid operator certificate for the specific machine, from an MQA-accredited provider

• Machine training instructor experience
• Fatigue management or defensive driving training
• Certificates on two or more machine types

• Medical aid subsidy
• Shift allowance for night and weekend shifts
• Company bus from nearby towns to the mine gate

• Name the exact machine class and size you operated, like "100-ton rigid dump truck". Mines hire by machine.
• Put your operator certificate expiry dates on the CV. Expired tickets are the top reason operators get filtered out.
