Job Description

This is hands-on electrical work in Bellville: new installs, repairs and CoCs that pass the first time. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

This post is in Bellville (Western Cape). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

What your day looks like

  • Read electrical layouts and mark out point positions before chasing walls
  • Replace faulty light fittings, plugs, geyser elements and thermostats
  • Quote small jobs for clients and explain the fault in plain language
  • Complete job cards, material lists and test reports at the end of each job
  • Lock out and tag out circuits before any work on live equipment
  • Install inverters, battery banks and changeover switches for backup power clients
  • Install and wire distribution boards, isolators and earth leakage units to SANS 10142-1

You'll need

  • Electrical trade test certificate (Section 13 or 26D) through a QCTO-accredited centre
  • At least 3 years working as a qualified electrician after your trade test
  • Clean criminal record, since you will work inside client homes
  • Your own basic hand tools and a calibrated multimeter
  • Registered with the Department of Employment and Labour as an Installation Electrician or holding a Wireman's licence

What's in it for you

  • Standby allowance when you are on the after-hours roster
  • Company-issued test instruments, calibrated every year
  • Company bakkie for call-outs and travel between sites
  • Provident fund and group risk cover after probation

Applying, step by step

  1. Read the "What you need" list above. If you tick most of it, go ahead and apply.
  2. Keep copies of these ready to send: Wireman's licence or registration letter from the Department of Employment and Labour plus driver's licence copy.
  3. Use the form on this page. It takes about two minutes and you don't need to upload anything yet.
  4. Keep your phone on. Shortlisted applicants are contacted by call, SMS or WhatsApp within 6 working days.
