Electrical Artisan (Trade Tested)

This is hands-on electrical work in Johannesburg CBD: new installs, repairs and CoCs that pass the first time. This role rewards consistency more than flash.

Location: Johannesburg CBD, Gauteng. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Terminate armoured cable and fit glands on three-phase motor supplies
• Test installations and issue Certificates of Compliance where your registration allows
• Quote small jobs for clients and explain the fault in plain language
• Install inverters, battery banks and changeover switches for backup power clients
• Read electrical layouts and mark out point positions before chasing walls
• Supervise and teach an electrical assistant or apprentice on site
• Lock out and tag out circuits before any work on live equipment

• Registered with the Department of Employment and Labour as an Installation Electrician or holding a Wireman's licence
• Electrical trade test certificate (Section 13 or 26D) through a QCTO-accredited centre
• Your own basic hand tools and a calibrated multimeter
• Clean criminal record, since you will work inside client homes
• Solid working knowledge of SANS 10142-1 and the Electrical Installation Regulations
• Comfortable working at heights on ladders and in roof spaces

• Master Installation Electrician registration for three-phase CoCs
• Solar PV installation training and experience with hybrid inverters

• Overtime paid at time-and-a-half on weekends
• Standby allowance when you are on the after-hours roster
• Company bakkie for call-outs and travel between sites

• List two or three recent jobs with sizes, like a 60-point house rewire or a 10 kVA inverter install. It shows your level quickly.
