Electrical Artisan (Trade Tested)

This is hands-on electrical work in Midrand: new installs, repairs and CoCs that pass the first time. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

The work is in Midrand, Gauteng, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Test installations and issue Certificates of Compliance where your registration allows
• Terminate armoured cable and fit glands on three-phase motor supplies
• Supervise and teach an electrical assistant or apprentice on site
• Install inverters, battery banks and changeover switches for backup power clients
• Lock out and tag out circuits before any work on live equipment
• Read electrical layouts and mark out point positions before chasing walls

• Valid Code 08 driver's licence
• Comfortable working at heights on ladders and in roof spaces
• Your own basic hand tools and a calibrated multimeter
• At least 3 years working as a qualified electrician after your trade test

• PLC and motor control experience from a factory setting
• N3 electrical trade theory on top of your trade test

• Overtime paid at time-and-a-half on weekends
• Provident fund and group risk cover after probation
• Company-issued test instruments, calibrated every year

• Many applicants forget to attach the trade test certificate itself. Recruiters often skip CVs that only mention it.
• If you have issued CoCs before, say how many and for what type of property.
