Electrical Artisan (Trade Tested) – Permanent

Got your trade test and a steady hand on a DB board? This facilities management company in Newcastle needs you on the tools. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

You'll report in Newcastle. Relocation is not covered for this one. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Read electrical layouts and mark out point positions before chasing walls
• Fault-find tripping circuits with a multimeter, insulation tester and loop tester
• Install inverters, battery banks and changeover switches for backup power clients
• Complete job cards, material lists and test reports at the end of each job
• Terminate armoured cable and fit glands on three-phase motor supplies
• Quote small jobs for clients and explain the fault in plain language
• Supervise and teach an electrical assistant or apprentice on site

• At least 3 years working as a qualified electrician after your trade test
• Registered with the Department of Employment and Labour as an Installation Electrician or holding a Wireman's licence
• Valid Code 08 driver's licence
• Comfortable working at heights on ladders and in roof spaces
• Clean criminal record, since you will work inside client homes

• Working at Heights certificate still in date
• N3 electrical trade theory on top of your trade test

• Provident fund and group risk cover after probation
• Standby allowance when you are on the after-hours roster
• Overtime paid at time-and-a-half on weekends

• Put your registration category (IE, MIE or single-phase tester) and registration number right under your name on the CV.
• List two or three recent jobs with sizes, like a 60-point house rewire or a 10 kVA inverter install. It shows your level quickly.
