Job Description

The electrical consulting engineering firm in Khayelitsha needs an electrical engineer for projects that go from design to commissioning. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.

This post is Khayelitsha-based, with most of your time spent at an electrical consulting engineering firm. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

What you'll actually do

Plan maintenance for switchgear, transformers and motor control centres
Review PLC and SCADA logic for process control and alarms
Design solar PV and battery systems and handle grid connection to NRS 097
Investigate power quality problems with a power analyser
Design LV and MV reticulation to SANS 10142-1 and SANS 10142-2

You'll need

At least 3 years of electrical engineering work after graduating
Strong understanding of SANS 10142 and the Electrical Installation Regulations
Experience with at least one power system or lighting design package
BEng or BSc Eng in Electrical Engineering, or a BTech or Advanced Diploma for technologist posts
Able to write clear technical reports and specifications
Code 08 licence and willingness to travel to sites
