Electrical Engineer (Power Distribution) – Immediate Start

Power has to be safe, reliable and legal. The solar and battery project developer in Stellenbosch needs you to make it so. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

The work is in Stellenbosch, Western Cape, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Guide technicians and contractors on site during commissioning
• Keep single line diagrams and as-built drawings up to date
• Inspect installations and sign off compliance on completion
• Size cables, transformers and protection using design software
• Design solar PV and battery systems and handle grid connection to NRS 097
• Investigate power quality problems with a power analyser
• Plan maintenance for switchgear, transformers and motor control centres

• ECSA registration as Pr Eng, Pr Tech Eng or Candidate
• Code 08 licence and willingness to travel to sites
• Able to write clear technical reports and specifications
• Strong understanding of SANS 10142 and the Electrical Installation Regulations
• BEng or BSc Eng in Electrical Engineering, or a BTech or Advanced Diploma for technologist posts
• At least 3 years of electrical engineering work after graduating

• Protection or HV operating authorisation
• Renewable energy project experience above 1 MW

• Paid professional registration and training
• Flexible hours on design days
• Vehicle allowance for site work
• Clear path to associate or senior engineer
