Electrical Engineering Technologist (Substations) – Immediate Start

You'll design, protect and maintain electrical systems for the municipal electricity department in Brits. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

The site is in Brits; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

• Review PLC and SCADA logic for process control and alarms
• Investigate power quality problems with a power analyser
• Plan maintenance for switchgear, transformers and motor control centres
• Draw up tender specifications and bills of quantities for electrical works
• Set and test protection relays and keep settings records
• Guide technicians and contractors on site during commissioning
• Design solar PV and battery systems and handle grid connection to NRS 097

• Strong understanding of SANS 10142 and the Electrical Installation Regulations
• Able to write clear technical reports and specifications
• ECSA registration as Pr Eng, Pr Tech Eng or Candidate
• Experience with at least one power system or lighting design package

• Renewable energy project experience above 1 MW
• PLC programming certification

• Flexible hours on design days
• Clear path to associate or senior engineer
