Electrician for CoC Inspections – Fixed-Term

Got your trade test and a steady hand on a DB board? This office park maintenance team in Khayelitsha needs you on the tools. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

This post is in Khayelitsha (Western Cape). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Install and wire distribution boards, isolators and earth leakage units to SANS 10142-1
• Lock out and tag out circuits before any work on live equipment
• Supervise and teach an electrical assistant or apprentice on site
• Complete job cards, material lists and test reports at the end of each job
• Replace faulty light fittings, plugs, geyser elements and thermostats

• Electrical trade test certificate (Section 13 or 26D) through a QCTO-accredited centre
• Your own basic hand tools and a calibrated multimeter
• Clean criminal record, since you will work inside client homes
• Valid Code 08 driver's licence
• Solid working knowledge of SANS 10142-1 and the Electrical Installation Regulations
• Registered with the Department of Employment and Labour as an Installation Electrician or holding a Wireman's licence

• PLC and motor control experience from a factory setting
• N3 electrical trade theory on top of your trade test
• Solar PV installation training and experience with hybrid inverters

• Company bakkie for call-outs and travel between sites
• Overtime paid at time-and-a-half on weekends
• Provident fund and group risk cover after probation
• Standby allowance when you are on the after-hours roster

• Put your registration category (IE, MIE or single-phase tester) and registration number right under your name on the CV.
• List two or three recent jobs with sizes, like a 60-point house rewire or a 10 kVA inverter install. It shows your level quickly.
