Job Description

Got your trade test and a steady hand on a DB board? This shopfitting and retail fit-out firm in Mahikeng needs you on the tools. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

You'll be based at a shopfitting and retail fit-out firm in Mahikeng. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

What your day looks like

  • Read electrical layouts and mark out point positions before chasing walls
  • Quote small jobs for clients and explain the fault in plain language
  • Replace faulty light fittings, plugs, geyser elements and thermostats
  • Terminate armoured cable and fit glands on three-phase motor supplies
  • Install and wire distribution boards, isolators and earth leakage units to SANS 10142-1

Must-haves

  • Your own basic hand tools and a calibrated multimeter
  • Clean criminal record, since you will work inside client homes
  • Solid working knowledge of SANS 10142-1 and the Electrical Installation Regulations
  • Electrical trade test certificate (Section 13 or 26D) through a QCTO-accredited centre
  • Comfortable working at heights on ladders and in roof spaces

Helpful, not essential

  • PLC and motor control experience from a factory setting
  • Master Installation Electrician registration for three-phase CoCs
  • Working at Heights certificate still in date

On offer

  • Overtime paid at time-and-a-half on weekends
  • Company-issued test instruments, calibrated every year
  • Standby allowance when you are on the after-hours roster

How to apply

  1. Check you meet the must-haves first; recruiters filter on those before anything else.
  2. Get these ready, because shortlisted people are asked for them straight away: trade test certificate, Wireman's licence or registration letter from the Department of Employment and Labour plus certified copy of your ID.
  3. Fill in the short form below with your name and a phone number you actually answer.
  4. Watch for a call or WhatsApp from How2Apply over the next 8 working days.
