Job Description

You'll keep machines, conveyors and shafts running at the platinum mine engineering department near Ermelo. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

You'll be based at a platinum mine engineering department in Ermelo. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

What your day looks like

Isolate and lock out machines under the site isolation procedure
Repair and align conveyor belt drives, pulleys and idlers
Complete job cards and work orders in SAP after each task
Help with rope inspections and shaft maintenance during scheduled stoppages
Order spares and track them through the engineering store

You'll need

At least 2 years as a qualified artisan, preferably on a mine
Trade test certificate in your trade (diesel mechanic, fitter, electrician, boilermaker, instrumentation or rigger)
Understands MHSA duties for artisans, including lockout and permits
N3 certificate or Grade 12 with maths and science
Certificate of fitness for underground or surface work
Able to read schematics, hydraulic circuits or wiring diagrams

Nice if you have

Government Certificate of Competency studies in progress
Flameproof equipment training for coal mines
