Job Description

This diamond mine processing plant near Sasolburg needs a trade-tested artisan who is safe, quick and thorough on breakdowns. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

You'll be based at a diamond mine processing plant in Sasolburg. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

What you'll actually do

Help with rope inspections and shaft maintenance during scheduled stoppages
Fault-find hydraulic, electrical and engine faults on trackless machines
Take part in weekend shutdowns for major overhauls
Guide and teach an artisan assistant on the job
Test and maintain flameproof electrical equipment in coal sections
Carry out planned maintenance on loaders, drill rigs and utility vehicles
Isolate and lock out machines under the site isolation procedure

You'll need

Willing to do standby and call-outs on a roster
Trade test certificate in your trade (diesel mechanic, fitter, electrician, boilermaker, instrumentation or rigger)
Able to read schematics, hydraulic circuits or wiring diagrams
At least 2 years as a qualified artisan, preferably on a mine
N3 certificate or Grade 12 with maths and science

Helpful, not essential

SAP PM module experience
Government Certificate of Competency studies in progress

What's in it for you

Tool allowance or company-issued toolbox
Study assistance for engineering qualifications
Housing support in the mining town

Applying, step by step

Make sure the role, the hours and working in Sasolburg really suit you before you apply.
Have the following on hand (clear photos on your phone are fine at first): certified ID copy, employment references showing artisan work plus trade test certificate and N-certificates.
Use the form on this page. It takes about two minutes and you don't need to upload anything yet.
If you're shortlisted you'll hear from us within 8 working days, usually by phone.

How2Apply recruits for this position on behalf of hiring employers around Sasolburg; applications go into our talent pool and shortlisted candidates are introduced directly.

How2Apply never charges you to apply, for training, for uniforms or for a "placement fee". If anyone asks you for money, it is a scam.

Before you hit apply

Your trade test certificate must show the trade and the date. Keep a certified copy ready because mines verify it.
Mention underground or flameproof experience clearly. It separates mine-ready artisans from factory artisans.
