Electrician's Assistant (House Wiring) – Experienced

Strong, willing hands are wanted on a townhouse construction site in Pretoria East. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

This post is Pretoria East-based, with most of your time spent at a townhouse construction site. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Cut and lay paving bricks along string lines
• Erect and strip shutters and simple scaffolding under supervision
• Dig trenches and foundations to the depth the foreman marks
• Pass tools and materials to the plumber or electrician as needed
• Clean tools, mixers and wheelbarrows at the end of each day
• Help offload deliveries of steel, timber and pipes
• Sign the daily safety talk register before work starts

• Able to follow instructions from a foreman or artisan
• Physically strong and fit for outdoor work in all weather
• Willing to start early, often at 06:30
• Prepared to travel between sites in the area

• A working-at-heights or scaffolding ticket
• Some experience with a jackhammer, grinder or plate compactor
• Previous site work you can show with a reference

• Learn from artisans with a chance to move up to assistant
• Paid weekly or fortnightly
• Overtime on weekend pours and deadline days
• Boots, hard hat and overalls issued on site

• Government-funded projects often reserve jobs for people from the local ward. Bring proof of address and ask the site office about the local labour desk.
• If a foreman can vouch for you, put their number on your CV. Site hiring runs on word of mouth.
