Electrician's Assistant (House Wiring)

You'll mix, carry, dig and clean up so the tradespeople on a townhouse construction site in Welkom can keep building. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

The work is in Welkom, Free State, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Compact soil and layer bedding sand with a plate compactor
• Erect and strip shutters and simple scaffolding under supervision
• Help offload deliveries of steel, timber and pipes
• Pass tools and materials to the plumber or electrician as needed
• Sign the daily safety talk register before work starts
• Clear rubble and load it into skips
• Set up barriers, cones and signs around open trenches

• Able to follow instructions from a foreman or artisan
• Physically strong and fit for outdoor work in all weather
• Prepared to travel between sites in the area
• Grade 8 or higher

• Some experience with a jackhammer, grinder or plate compactor
• Previous site work you can show with a reference

• Overtime on weekend pours and deadline days
• Learn from artisans with a chance to move up to assistant
• Paid weekly or fortnightly
• Boots, hard hat and overalls issued on site

• List past sites by name and what you did there, like "mixed concrete, laid kerbs". It proves you have done real site work.
