English Home Language Teacher (Senior Phase)

An independent primary school in Hammarsdale needs a teacher who can hold a class and lift the marks. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

The site is in Hammarsdale; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Plan weekly lessons against the CAPS annual teaching plan
• Handle classroom discipline with the school's code of conduct
• Keep learner profiles and a tidy teacher file for subject advisers
• Attend staff meetings, subject meetings and district workshops
• Capture marks on SA-SAMS or the school's reporting platform before deadlines
• Prepare Grade 12 learners for prelims and the NSC exams

• A B.Ed, or a degree plus PGCE, in the phase and subject you'll teach
• Full SACE registration (provisional registration only for student or newly qualified teachers)
• Sound knowledge of CAPS and the assessment policy for your phase
• At least 1 year of classroom teaching, including teaching practice
• Clear record on the National Register for Sex Offenders and a police clearance
• Good spoken and written command of the language of teaching

• Experience with remedial or inclusive education
• Comfortable with Google Classroom or Microsoft Teams for homework
