English Home Language Teacher (Senior Phase)

Teach at an independent primary school in Springs where your planning, marking and patience all count. Expect to be trusted with real work from your first week.

Home base is an independent primary school on the Springs side of Gauteng. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Set, mark and moderate formal assessment tasks for the term
• Capture marks on SA-SAMS or the school's reporting platform before deadlines
• Attend staff meetings, subject meetings and district workshops
• Use data projectors, smartboards or tablets where the school has them
• Prepare Grade 12 learners for prelims and the NSC exams

• A B.Ed, or a degree plus PGCE, in the phase and subject you'll teach
• Clear record on the National Register for Sex Offenders and a police clearance
• Good spoken and written command of the language of teaching
• You can manage a class of 35 or more without losing control
• Sound knowledge of CAPS and the assessment policy for your phase
• Full SACE registration (provisional registration only for student or newly qualified teachers)

• Experience marking for the NSC or IEB
• Comfortable with Google Classroom or Microsoft Teams for homework
• Experience with remedial or inclusive education
