Enrolled Nurse (Surgical Ward)

A private medical ward in Benoni needs someone kind and reliable to look after patients who can't manage alone. Expect to be trusted with real work from your first week.

This post is Benoni-based, with most of your time spent at a private medical ward. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Make beds, change linen and keep the rooms clean and uncluttered
• Turn bed-bound patients on schedule and check pressure areas for early sores
• Hand out oral medication under the supervision of a registered nurse
• Help patients walk, transfer from bed to chair and do their exercises
• Spot confusion, falls risk or changes in mood and tell the nurse in charge

• Accredited home-based care or ancillary health care certificate for caregiver posts
• First aid Level 1 or BLS certificate
• Physically strong enough to lift and move patients safely
• SANC enrolment as an Enrolled Nurse or Enrolled Nursing Auxiliary for nursing posts
• At least 1 year of hands-on patient care

• Uniform supplied
• Paid training in dementia and end-of-life care
• Overtime paid at time and a half

• Name the type of patients you've cared for, such as stroke patients or dementia residents, in your first CV line.
