Enrolled Nurse (Surgical Ward) – Entry Level

A retirement village frail care centre in Paarl needs someone kind and reliable to look after patients who can't manage alone. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

Home base is a retirement village frail care centre on the Paarl side of Western Cape. Start date: as soon as possible for the right person.

• Take and chart temperature, pulse, blood pressure and blood glucose
• Help patients bath, dress, eat and use the toilet with dignity
• Help patients walk, transfer from bed to chair and do their exercises
• Follow infection control rules, including hand hygiene and safe sharps disposal
• Turn bed-bound patients on schedule and check pressure areas for early sores
• Keep families updated on routine matters and pass clinical questions to the sister

• Accredited home-based care or ancillary health care certificate for caregiver posts
• Patient and gentle with elderly, frail or confused people
• Physically strong enough to lift and move patients safely
• First aid Level 1 or BLS certificate
• SANC enrolment as an Enrolled Nurse or Enrolled Nursing Auxiliary for nursing posts
• At least 1 year of hands-on patient care

• Experience in a frail care or hospice setting
• A second South African language spoken by the patients you'll serve
• Code B or Code 8 driver's licence for home visits

• Meals provided on shift at many frail care centres
• Overtime paid at time and a half
• Paid training in dementia and end-of-life care
• Uniform supplied

• Name the type of patients you've cared for, such as stroke patients or dementia residents, in your first CV line.
• If you're a caregiver, attach the certificate from the training provider, not just a letter saying you attended.
