Enrolled Nursing Auxiliary (Frail Care)

Your care keeps residents at a retirement village frail care centre in Durban Central safe, clean and comfortable through the day. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.

Home base is a retirement village frail care centre on the Durban Central side of KwaZulu-Natal. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

• Keep the fluid and food intake charts accurate for every patient
• Hand out oral medication under the supervision of a registered nurse
• Take and chart temperature, pulse, blood pressure and blood glucose
• Keep families updated on routine matters and pass clinical questions to the sister
• Help patients bath, dress, eat and use the toilet with dignity

• Physically strong enough to lift and move patients safely
• Able to work shifts, including nights and weekends
• Patient and gentle with elderly, frail or confused people
• Accredited home-based care or ancillary health care certificate for caregiver posts

• A second South African language spoken by the patients you'll serve
• Dementia care or palliative care short course

• Transport home after late shifts at some facilities
• Paid training in dementia and end-of-life care
• Overtime paid at time and a half

• Recruiters phone references for care jobs, so warn your references and check their numbers still work.
• If you're a caregiver, attach the certificate from the training provider, not just a letter saying you attended.
