Enrolled Nursing Auxiliary (Frail Care) – Entry Level

A home-based care agency in Rosslyn needs someone kind and reliable to look after patients who can't manage alone. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

Home base is a home-based care agency on the Rosslyn side of Gauteng. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

• Do simple wound dressings and report anything that looks infected
• Make beds, change linen and keep the rooms clean and uncluttered
• Follow infection control rules, including hand hygiene and safe sharps disposal
• Help patients bath, dress, eat and use the toilet with dignity
• Keep families updated on routine matters and pass clinical questions to the sister
• Spot confusion, falls risk or changes in mood and tell the nurse in charge
• Hand out oral medication under the supervision of a registered nurse

• First aid Level 1 or BLS certificate
• Accredited home-based care or ancillary health care certificate for caregiver posts
• Able to work shifts, including nights and weekends
• Patient and gentle with elderly, frail or confused people

• Code B or Code 8 driver's licence for home visits
• Dementia care or palliative care short course

• Transport home after late shifts at some facilities
• Overtime paid at time and a half
• Meals provided on shift at many frail care centres
• Paid training in dementia and end-of-life care

• Name the type of patients you've cared for, such as stroke patients or dementia residents, in your first CV line.
