Environmental Control Officer (Mine Rehabilitation)

You'll make safety real on the ground at the mineral processing plant near Brits, not just on paper. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

You'll be based at a mineral processing plant in Brits. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

• Lead incident investigations using a root cause method
• Train safety representatives and support the health and safety committee
• Take dust, noise and heat measurements with the occupational hygiene team
• Review baseline and issue-based risk assessments with section managers
• Prepare for inspections by the mine inspector and follow up on instructions
• Help run emergency drills and check refuge bays

• Code 08 licence for moving around the mine property
• Certificate of fitness to go underground or into the pit
• At least 3 years in a safety role at a mine
• Registered with SAIOSH, or working toward it
• SAMTRAC or an MQA-accredited mine safety qualification
• Detailed knowledge of the MHSA and its regulations

• ISO 45001 auditing experience
• Mine rescue training
• Occupational hygiene registration with the relevant council

• Standby allowance for incident call-outs

• Show your mining sector safety experience clearly. Construction-only safety CVs are often moved to the no pile.
• Mention the commodity and whether you worked underground. Mines prefer someone who knows their hazards.
