You'll keep clients in good standing with SARS at a small tax practice in Sandton. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

You'll be based at a small tax practice in Sandton. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Check SARS assessments and flag errors to clients
• Register clients for income tax, VAT and PAYE
• Keep client tax files complete for five years
• Calculate IRP6 provisional tax for individuals and companies
• Prepare VAT201 returns and review input tax claims

• Comfortable handling tax season overtime
• Registered tax practitioner with a recognised controlling body such as SAIT or SAIPA
• Neat, careful and organised with client documents
• Working knowledge of the Income Tax Act and VAT Act
• Clear writing for SARS letters and objections

• Customs and excise knowledge for import-export clients
• Tax software experience such as TaxShop or CaseWare

• Bonus at the end of filing season
• CPD hours paid by the firm
• Flexible hours outside filing season

• Give an example of a SARS dispute you won or a verification you cleared; firms value real results.
• Make sure your own tax affairs are up to date, as some firms check your compliance status before they appoint.
