Job Description

A financial planning practice in Soweto needs a tax practitioner who knows eFiling inside out. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

Location: Soweto, Gauteng. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

The work, day to day

Calculate IRP6 provisional tax for individuals and companies
Advise on deductions such as retirement contributions and home office claims
Respond to SARS verification letters and upload documents on time
Prepare VAT201 returns and review input tax claims
Keep client tax files complete for five years
Prepare and submit ITR12, ITR14 and ITR12T returns on SARS eFiling

Must-haves

At least 2 years of SARS eFiling experience
Comfortable handling tax season overtime
Working knowledge of the Income Tax Act and VAT Act
Registered tax practitioner with a recognised controlling body such as SAIT or SAIPA
Clear writing for SARS letters and objections
Degree or diploma in accounting or tax

Helpful, not essential

Tax software experience such as TaxShop or CaseWare
Postgraduate diploma in tax
Customs and excise knowledge for import-export clients
