Estate Housekeeper (Large Home)

Cleaning, laundry and a hand with the kids: that is the week in a large estate home in Cape Town CBD. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

The work is in Cape Town CBD, Western Cape, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

• Wash dishes and keep the kitchen tidy after meals
• Clean windows and patio doors once a week
• Wash, hang, iron and fold the household's laundry
• Help an elderly person with meals, medication reminders and light walking
• Dust furniture, ornaments and skirting boards
• Get children ready for school and supervise homework in the afternoon

• South African ID or valid work permit
• Good with children and patient
• Able to speak and understand basic English
• Trustworthy, with references from previous employers you can share

• Experience caring for an older person
• Non-smoker
• Basic first aid or child CPR course

• Own room with bathroom for live-in posts
• Paid annual leave and public holidays as the law requires
• Written contract with fixed hours and duties
• Transport money for live-out staff

• Families hire on trust, so make references your strongest part. Write the employer's name, suburb, years worked and phone number for each one.
• Say plainly what you can and cannot do: cooking, ironing, childcare, driving. It avoids arguments later and families like honesty.
