Estate Housekeeper (Large Home)

You'll keep a guesthouse with family quarters in Germiston clean, calm and running smoothly for the family. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

This post is in Germiston (Gauteng). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Get children ready for school and supervise homework in the afternoon
• Wash dishes and keep the kitchen tidy after meals
• Dust furniture, ornaments and skirting boards
• Water indoor plants and feed pets
• Clean windows and patio doors once a week

• Neat, organised and able to work without being supervised
• Good with children and patient
• South African ID or valid work permit
• Trustworthy, with references from previous employers you can share
• Able to speak and understand basic English
• Able to handle a full-day physical routine

• Basic first aid or child CPR course
• Experience caring for an older person

• Transport money for live-out staff
• Written contract with fixed hours and duties
• Own room with bathroom for live-in posts

• Families hire on trust, so make references your strongest part. Write the employer's name, suburb, years worked and phone number for each one.
• Ask for a written contract and to be registered for UIF. Good employers expect the question and it protects you.
