Estimator (Tenders & Pricing)

The shopfitting company in George needs a QS who can price a tender and still defend a final account. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

You'll be based at a shopfitting company in George. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

• Track budget against actual cost and flag overruns early
• Update cash flow forecasts for the project manager
• Measure work on site for monthly interim payment certificates
• Value variations and prepare claims under JBCC or GCC conditions
• Get quotes from subcontractors and compare them line by line
• Draft subcontract agreements and payment schedules

• Understanding of JBCC Principal Building Agreement clauses
• You know the Standard System of Measuring Building Work
• At least 3 years of QS work in private practice or with a contractor
• BSc, BTech or Diploma in Quantity Surveying
• Code 08 licence for site visits
• Accurate with numbers and able to back up every figure you certify

• SACQSP registration as a Professional or Candidate QS
• Experience with civil bills using the SANS 1200 standard
• Honours degree in Quantity Surveying

• Paid SACQSP registration fees and CPD courses
• Study support for an honours degree
• Hybrid days in the office and on site

• Recruiters often give a short take-off test. Practise measuring a simple house plan under time pressure before the interview.
