Evening Turndown Housekeeper

Check-out to check-in in under an hour, room after room, at a conference hotel in Kempton Park. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

You'll report in Kempton Park. Relocation is not covered for this one. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Work through a room list, marking rooms clean on the housekeeping board
• Report maintenance faults like dripping taps or broken lights
• Do evening turndowns, closing curtains and setting out slippers
• Log lost property with the guest's room number and date
• Keep your trolley stocked and neat before each shift
• Clean bathrooms, replace towels and restock guest toiletries
• Strip and make beds to the hotel's standard, hospital corners included

• Grade 10 or matric
• Quick and thorough, with a target of about 14 to 16 rooms a shift
• Well groomed
• Friendly and polite if you meet guests in the corridor
• Honest, since you work in guests' rooms alone
• Physically able to push trolleys and turn mattresses

• Speaking a foreign language for tourist guests
• Experience with industrial laundry machines
• A hospitality short course or NQF Level 2 accommodation services certificate

• Share of the service charge or guest tips
• Staff accommodation at remote lodges
• Meals on duty from the staff kitchen
• Uniform supplied and laundered

• Write how many rooms you usually cleaned per shift. Head housekeepers care about pace as much as quality.
• Mention seasonal availability for December and Easter. Coastal and lodge properties hire heavily before those peaks.
