Evening Turndown Housekeeper

Check-out to check-in in under an hour, room after room, at a game lodge in Richards Bay. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

This post is in Richards Bay (KwaZulu-Natal). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Clean bathrooms, replace towels and restock guest toiletries
• Clean lobby, lifts and public toilets through the day
• Load, wash, dry and press linen in the hotel laundry
• Keep your trolley stocked and neat before each shift
• Log lost property with the guest's room number and date
• Work through a room list, marking rooms clean on the housekeeping board
• Vacuum, dust and check the minibar in each room

• Honest, since you work in guests' rooms alone
• Grade 10 or matric
• Available on weekends, holidays and in peak season
• Physically able to push trolleys and turn mattresses
• Quick and thorough, with a target of about 14 to 16 rooms a shift

• Experience with industrial laundry machines
• Previous hotel or guesthouse housekeeping experience
• Speaking a foreign language for tourist guests

• Uniform supplied and laundered
• Meals on duty from the staff kitchen
• Share of the service charge or guest tips
• Staff accommodation at remote lodges

• Write how many rooms you usually cleaned per shift. Head housekeepers care about pace as much as quality.
• Mention seasonal availability for December and Easter. Coastal and lodge properties hire heavily before those peaks.
