Excavator Operator (Open Cast Mine)

You'll operate heavy mining machines on shift at the open-pit manganese mine near Lephalale. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

This post is in Lephalale (Limpopo). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

• Keep radio contact with the dispatch controller and follow the right-of-way rules
• Respect the collision avoidance system warnings and park-up rules
• Push and level material on dumps and stockpiles with the dozer
• Load, haul and tip with the LHD from draw points to the ore pass
• Log loads, cycle times and machine hours on the onboard system or sheet

• Grade 10 at minimum, with Grade 12 strongly preferred
• Able to work 12-hour shifts on a rotating day and night roster
• Code 10 or Code 14 driver's licence
• Certificate of fitness from a mine medical practitioner

• Machine training instructor experience
• Experience with ultra-class haul trucks

• Put your operator certificate expiry dates on the CV. Expired tickets are the top reason operators get filtered out.
• Name the exact machine class and size you operated, like "100-ton rigid dump truck". Mines hire by machine.
