Excavator Operator (Open Cast Mine)

Big machines, long shifts, good pay: the underground platinum mine using trackless mobile machinery near Rustenburg needs qualified operators. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

You'll report in Rustenburg. Relocation is not covered for this one.

• Load, haul and tip with the LHD from draw points to the ore pass
• Log loads, cycle times and machine hours on the onboard system or sheet
• Respect the collision avoidance system warnings and park-up rules
• Complete the pre-use inspection checklist for your trackless mobile machine
• Refuel and wash the machine at the end of your shift where required

• Able to work 12-hour shifts on a rotating day and night roster
• Valid operator certificate for the specific machine, from an MQA-accredited provider
• Certificate of fitness from a mine medical practitioner
• At least 2 years operating the machine in a mining environment
• Grade 10 at minimum, with Grade 12 strongly preferred

• Fatigue management or defensive driving training
• Certificates on two or more machine types
• Experience with ultra-class haul trucks

• If you live near the mine, say so. Local applicants are often preferred under the Social and Labour Plan.
• Put your operator certificate expiry dates on the CV. Expired tickets are the top reason operators get filtered out.
