Factory Hand (Bottling Plant) – Fixed-Term

You'll keep the line running at a meat processing plant in Mthatha, feeding, checking and packing product all shift. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

Home base is a meat processing plant on the Mthatha side of Eastern Cape. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

• Feed raw material or empty packaging into the machine at the start of the line
• Check product for size, weight and seal faults and pull out rejects
• Clean down machines and floors at the end of each run
• Record batch codes and counts on the hourly production sheet
• Help the machine operator clear jams and reload hoppers
• Hand over at shift change with notes on rejects and stoppages

• Grade 10 minimum, matric an advantage
• You follow hygiene rules without being reminded
• Neat, reliable and on time for shift start
• Available for rotating day and night shifts
• No problem wearing full PPE, including ear protection
• Medically fit; some food plants ask for a medical check

• Night-shift allowance on top of basic pay
• Path to machine operator after six months
• Staff shop with discounted factory products
• Free PPE, overalls and hairnets

• Do not wear jewellery or long nails to the interview if it is on site. Food factories notice and it counts.
• Mention that you can work rotating shifts right at the top. It is the first thing most factories filter on.
