Factory Hand (Bottling Plant)

You'll keep the line running at a meat processing plant in Vereeniging, feeding, checking and packing product all shift. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

You'll be based at a meat processing plant in Vereeniging. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Change over packaging film and labels when the line switches product
• Hand over at shift change with notes on rejects and stoppages
• Record batch codes and counts on the hourly production sheet
• Check product for size, weight and seal faults and pull out rejects
• Pack finished product into cases and stack them by batch number
• Follow lock-out procedures when helping with cleaning inside machines

• Medically fit; some food plants ask for a medical check
• Basic reading and counting for batch sheets
• You follow hygiene rules without being reminded
• Available for rotating day and night shifts
• Neat, reliable and on time for shift start
• No problem wearing full PPE, including ear protection

• Some basic first-aid training
• A food handler or basic HACCP awareness certificate
• Experience assisting on a packaging or filling machine

• Company transport on some night shifts
• Staff shop with discounted factory products
• Free PPE, overalls and hairnets

• Do not wear jewellery or long nails to the interview if it is on site. Food factories notice and it counts.
• Mention that you can work rotating shifts right at the top. It is the first thing most factories filter on.
