Field Service Diesel Mechanic (Roadside Breakdowns) – Permanent

You'll service and repair heavy diesel vehicles for the agricultural equipment dealer in Roodepoort. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

You'll be based at an agricultural equipment dealer in Roodepoort. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

• Repair gearboxes, differentials and clutches on heavy vehicles
• Record parts used and hours worked on the fleet system
• Overhaul brake systems, including air valves, chambers and slack adjusters
• Inspect tyres, fifth wheels and kingpins for wear and damage
• Fault-find AdBlue and aftertreatment systems on newer engines

• Diesel mechanic trade test certificate
• Solid understanding of air brake systems
• Physically fit for work under trucks and on pits
• Code 14 licence so you can move and test trucks
• Experience with electronic diagnostics on modern diesel engines
• At least 3 years on heavy commercial vehicles or plant

• PrDP for road tests with loaded vehicles
• Hydraulic systems training

• Heavy-duty tools supplied by the workshop
• Standby and call-out allowance
• Provident fund and funeral cover

• List the truck and engine types you have worked on, including electronic systems. Fleet managers screen for those.
• Your Code 14 is a big plus. Put it right below your name, not at the bottom of the CV.
