Fitter and Turner (Engineering Workshop)

The plastics injection moulding factory in Randburg needs an artisan who can fix a breakdown fast and machine a part when needed. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

The site is in Randburg; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying.

• Record work and spares used on the job card or CMMS
• Respond to breakdowns and get the line running again safely
• Maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems on production lines
• Program and run CNC machines from engineering drawings
• Replace bearings, seals and couplings on pumps, gearboxes and motors
• Align shafts with a laser alignment tool after every drive change
• Inspect and adjust conveyors, chains and sprockets

• Willing to work shifts, standby and weekend shutdowns
• N2 or N3 engineering subjects
• Trade test as Fitter and Turner, Fitter, Millwright or Toolmaker
• Basic understanding of the General Machinery Regulations
• At least 2 years as a qualified artisan in a factory or workshop

• Forklift licence for moving heavy parts
• CNC programming experience
• Food safety awareness for food and drink plants

• Chance to study further toward a technician diploma
• Shift and standby allowances
• Paid overtime on shutdowns

• If you can machine parts as well as fit them, say so clearly. Many factories want both skills in one person.
• Write your trade and trade test year first, then the machines you know, like "Filling lines, pumps, gearboxes".
