Job Description

Planned maintenance, breakdowns and shutdowns: steady artisan work at the iron ore mine maintenance workshop near Klerksdorp. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

Home base is an iron ore mine maintenance workshop on the Klerksdorp side of North West.

What you'll actually do

Repair and align conveyor belt drives, pulleys and idlers
Fault-find hydraulic, electrical and engine faults on trackless machines
Isolate and lock out machines under the site isolation procedure
Maintain pumps, fans and compressors in shafts and on surface
Help with rope inspections and shaft maintenance during scheduled stoppages

You'll need

Trade test certificate in your trade (diesel mechanic, fitter, electrician, boilermaker, instrumentation or rigger)
Certificate of fitness for underground or surface work
Able to read schematics, hydraulic circuits or wiring diagrams
At least 2 years as a qualified artisan, preferably on a mine

Extra points for

Experience with collision avoidance systems on TMM
Government Certificate of Competency studies in progress
