Fitter (Underground Engineering)

You'll keep machines, conveyors and shafts running at the gold mine shaft complex near Klerksdorp. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

This post is Klerksdorp-based, with most of your time spent at a gold mine shaft complex. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Carry out planned maintenance on loaders, drill rigs and utility vehicles
• Repair and align conveyor belt drives, pulleys and idlers
• Order spares and track them through the engineering store
• Maintain pumps, fans and compressors in shafts and on surface
• Complete job cards and work orders in SAP after each task

• Willing to do standby and call-outs on a roster
• At least 2 years as a qualified artisan, preferably on a mine
• Certificate of fitness for underground or surface work
• Trade test certificate in your trade (diesel mechanic, fitter, electrician, boilermaker, instrumentation or rigger)
• N3 certificate or Grade 12 with maths and science
• Able to read schematics, hydraulic circuits or wiring diagrams

• Experience with collision avoidance systems on TMM
• Government Certificate of Competency studies in progress

• Study assistance for engineering qualifications
• Tool allowance or company-issued toolbox
• Artisan allowance on top of basic pay

• Your trade test certificate must show the trade and the date. Keep a certified copy ready because mines verify it.
• State your trade and the machines or equipment you know best, for example "fitter: conveyors, crushers and pumps".
