Job Description

This platinum mine engineering department near Rustenburg needs a trade-tested artisan who is safe, quick and thorough on breakdowns. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

This post is Rustenburg-based, with most of your time spent at a platinum mine engineering department. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

The work, day to day

Isolate and lock out machines under the site isolation procedure
Maintain pumps, fans and compressors in shafts and on surface
Take part in weekend shutdowns for major overhauls
Test and maintain flameproof electrical equipment in coal sections
Fault-find hydraulic, electrical and engine faults on trackless machines
Guide and teach an artisan assistant on the job

You'll need

Understands MHSA duties for artisans, including lockout and permits
Able to read schematics, hydraulic circuits or wiring diagrams
N3 certificate or Grade 12 with maths and science
Certificate of fitness for underground or surface work

Nice if you have

Experience with collision avoidance systems on TMM
SAP PM module experience
Flameproof equipment training for coal mines
