Fitter (Underground Engineering)

You'll keep machines, conveyors and shafts running at the coal mine engineering workshop near Sasolburg. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

You'll report in Sasolburg. Relocation is not covered for this one. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Complete job cards and work orders in SAP after each task
• Guide and teach an artisan assistant on the job
• Take part in weekend shutdowns for major overhauls
• Isolate and lock out machines under the site isolation procedure
• Repair and align conveyor belt drives, pulleys and idlers

• Able to read schematics, hydraulic circuits or wiring diagrams
• Understands MHSA duties for artisans, including lockout and permits
• Certificate of fitness for underground or surface work
• Trade test certificate in your trade (diesel mechanic, fitter, electrician, boilermaker, instrumentation or rigger)

• Experience with collision avoidance systems on TMM
• Government Certificate of Competency studies in progress

• Tool allowance or company-issued toolbox
• Study assistance for engineering qualifications
• Artisan allowance on top of basic pay

• Your trade test certificate must show the trade and the date. Keep a certified copy ready because mines verify it.
• State your trade and the machines or equipment you know best, for example "fitter: conveyors, crushers and pumps".
