Job Description

Planned maintenance, breakdowns and shutdowns: steady artisan work at the coal mine engineering workshop near Thohoyandou. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

You'll be based at a coal mine engineering workshop in Thohoyandou. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

What your day looks like

Carry out planned maintenance on loaders, drill rigs and utility vehicles
Guide and teach an artisan assistant on the job
Help with rope inspections and shaft maintenance during scheduled stoppages
Take part in weekend shutdowns for major overhauls
Fault-find hydraulic, electrical and engine faults on trackless machines
Isolate and lock out machines under the site isolation procedure

Must-haves

Certificate of fitness for underground or surface work
Able to read schematics, hydraulic circuits or wiring diagrams
Understands MHSA duties for artisans, including lockout and permits
At least 2 years as a qualified artisan, preferably on a mine
Willing to do standby and call-outs on a roster
Trade test certificate in your trade (diesel mechanic, fitter, electrician, boilermaker, instrumentation or rigger)

Extra points for

SAP PM module experience
Experience with collision avoidance systems on TMM
