Fixed Asset Accountant (Mining)

You'll own the monthly numbers for a mid-sized manufacturing group in Midrand, from journals to the management pack. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

Location: Midrand, Gauteng. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and clear old reconciling items
• Improve controls, such as segregation of duties on supplier changes
• Build budgets and rolling forecasts with department heads
• Run the month-end close and prepare the trial balance
• Track stock costing, standard costs and production variances
• Review creditors, debtors and payroll journals from the clerks
• Maintain the fixed asset register and depreciation schedules

• You meet month-end deadlines without being chased
• BCom Accounting or equivalent degree
• Strong Excel skills, including large data sets and lookups
• Understanding of South African income tax and VAT
