Job Description

Behind every truck on the road is a controller; at a road freight company in Gqeberha, that could be you. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

Location: Gqeberha, Eastern Cape. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

What you'll actually do

Phone drivers when trucks stop too long or go off-route
Capture trip sheets, fuel and toll costs on the system
Keep a register of PrDP and licence expiry dates for all drivers
Plan daily loads to use full truck capacity
Arrange breakdown recovery and replacement vehicles

Must-haves

Able to work shifts in a 24-hour control office
At least 2 years in transport or logistics
Matric
Knowledge of South African road freight regulations

Helpful, not essential

Knowledge of cross-border documentation
Logistics or supply chain certificate
Transport management system (TMS) experience
